  • Wipe pans with a paper towel before washing; cool grease goes in the trash, not the drain.
  • Run cold water when using the disposal, and feed scraps slowly — not a whole plate at once.
  • Skip the disposal for fibrous peels, pasta, and coffee grounds when you can.
  • If the sink has been slow for weeks, a preventive cable or jetting is cheaper than a holiday backup.
